Kūkulu offers a wide range of quality, cost-effective services designed to optimize cultural competence within organizations. Kūkulu's services are available throughout the State of Hawai‘i, Pacific Triangle, and Rim.  While services are varied, Kūkulu remains focused on the following 3 areas:
  • Native Hawaiian Cultural Competence:  Working with organizations, such as those in the hospitality industry, that provide products and or services to visitors who come to Hawai‘i, in part, to experience the Native Hawaiian culture.
     

  • Multicultural Competence (external):  Working with organizations, such as hospitals and government agencies, that provide products and or services to customers and clients from multiple cultures.
     

  • Multicultural Competence (internal):  Working with organizations, such as universities and multinational corporations, with employees, associates, and or members from multiple cultures.

We can ensure that what you look, smell, sound, feel, and taste like are culturally sensitive and appropriate relative to the Native Hawaiian Culture.  Services here include:  Development of Name, slogan, and logo.  Consultation on physical structure, interior, and landscape design.  In addition, we can review and ensure that your marketing, promotions, and customer service programs are cultural competence.

Cultural Competent Branding

Hawaiian Community Liason

We can assist you in presenting your ideas, product, and or project, to the Native Hawaiian Community.  This will be done in a culturally sensitive and appropriate manner that will enhance community interest, understanding, benefit, and acceptance.  

Issue Specific Consultation & Training

We can provide your organization with issue specific consultation and training on just about any  issue you may encounter.  Training is available for management and or staff.  Training may take the form of mentoring, one to one coaching, seminars, workshops, breakout sessions, and off-site retreats.

Crisis Intervention & Management

The elements of organization crisis typically include: (a) a threat to the organization, (b) the element of surprise, (c) a short time to respond, and (d) a need to change.  Kūkulu can help you deal with threats before, during, and after they have occurred.  The Kūkulu Team has the resources, skills, and techniques required to identify, assess, understand, and cope with serious situations from first impact to recovery.

 

Cultural Program Assessments

Besides providing general Cultural Competence Assessments for organizations,  we can assess your ongoing Cultural specific program.  Whether it's entertainment featuring Hawaiian music and dance, cultural tours on your property, or any other program or event featuring the Native Hawaiian Culture, we can let you know if it is culturally competent.  Whether you want to improve an existing cultural program or start a new program, we can help.

Continuing Education

Multicultural Competence is a process that requires constant effort and attention.  We can provide your organization with the initial education, as well periodic monitoring and continuing education, as needed.  Our goal is to help your organization reach and maintain optimum cultural competence for excellence.

Cultural Resource Managent

We can assist your organization in the management of physical cultural resources on your property such as:  Ancient trails, walls, fish ponds, heiau, burial grounds, and other sites.  We can ensure that your treatment of such important historical, cultural, and spiritual places and items are culturally sensitive and appropriate.  In addition, we can ensure that you are compliant with any applicable laws and or regulations for such resources.

Cross-Cultural Training for Business

Kūkulu's cross-cultural programs for business are designed to provide organization's with an overview of Polynesian cultures including, but not limited to, Hawaiian, Samoan, Tahitian, Tongan, and Maori cultures.  We also have the capacity to develop programs for many Pacific Rim nations such as the Philippines, Japan, and China. 

Programs are designed to develop a working knowledge and  understanding of the social, economic, political, and  business environments of targeted cultures.  Our programs will help organizations interact with clients and prospects from other cultures effectively and respectfully.  Programs can be delivered on site throughout the Pacific Triangle and beyond.

Note: All services provided to Clients and all information obtained from Clients will be carried out and maintained under Kūkulu's Non-Disclosure Policy.  All relevant and pertinent information will be kept confidential including our list of Clients. No information will be shared or used to market or promote Kūkulu that may identify any Client.
